Mount Bromo Journey

Very similar to the majority of travellers, we headed to Java to see the famed sunrise at Mt. Bromo. Nevertheless, unlike every other day, we were celebrating our first anniversary. Even though we weren’t too excited about waking up early as we arrived following a trek from Kawah Ijen, we knew the opinion and scenery will be well worth it.
We began with an ancient 3am wake up call. We chose to hike to the sunrise point by ourself as opposed to joining a tour. We bundled up in all our clothes and began our ascent from the moonlit sky with the stars and the moon as our manual.
As soon as we got to the point of view, the sun started to emerge, coloring the sky as it lit the valley below us.

From where we stoodwe can see the sea of clouds drifting below us as we gazed at the beauty around us. Mt. Bromo in all its glory, let us enjoy this tranquil and serene moment to ourself.
Unlike the other tourist swarmed sunrise points, there was a total of 6 people where we were at so we got to take in the spectacular scenery of the clouds and the mountain, slowly being lit up through the sun.
Despite having traveled to many locations and seen so many beautiful things, this moment was special. We knew that we would never forget that afternoon. A view from the mountain top via plantsA volcano with smoke coming out
Soon, everything was glowing as the ocean of clouds created the ideal backdrop for this rather remarkable point of view. We sat there rather mesmerized as we all soaked all of it in. The sun was glowing, the weather was cool, and we’re happy to be there.
We approached a beautiful lady in her little straw hut and purchased a cup of coffee to warm us up. We sat by a little bench and enjoyed our view. A view of mountains through cloudsThe peak of bromo above the cloudsA cup of coffee in front of mountain perspectives throughout the clouds
We began our descent as we took pictures of the things around us. By this time, the town of Cemoro Lawang was only coming to life. The beauty of this town was overwhelming as we slowly made our way back to the homestay where we spent the evening.
We got to our homestay and looked back and watched this beautiful road which we spent the last 3 hours walking on.
